Corinth Coca Cola is a company that can trace its history back to 1907 when Kenneth Weaver first established a Coca Cola bottling works in Corinth, Mississippi. Now four generations later, the descendants of the Weaver family continue to grow and expand this company. Corinth Coca Cola distributes Coke products in the northern half of Mississippi and West Tennessee. Recently Corinth Coca Cola acquired distribution rights to expand even further. Under the new agreement, they will be adding portions of Arkansas and Missouri. If this wasn’t enough activity to manage, during the 1960’s Corinth Coca Cola developed a vending machine service under the name of Refreshment’s Inc. Today Refreshment’s Inc provides services to a network of customers and covers similar territory to their distribution franchises. Corinth Coca Cola has facilities in the cities of Corinth and Tupelo in Mississippi, and in Jackson and Lexington in Tennessee.
The Lexington, Tennessee facility is responsible for the staging and preparation of new vending machines, soda fountains, and refrigerated merchandisers that are used throughout the Corinth Coke territory. This facility also repairs and refurbishes this equipment. David Bolton, Director of Operations for Corinth Coke said, “In late 2016, we realized that the Lexington facility needed a lighting upgrade. So we contacted Wilbanks Electric because they are a proven and trusted electrical contractor with whom we have always experienced outstanding customer service. Wilbanks Electric recommended that we convert all of the lighting to LED.”
The entire facility consisting of both office and warehouse space totaling 30,000 square feet was equipped with LED products provided by Cortelco LED Lighting. In addition the outdoor lights were also converted to LED. The office areas were equipped with seventy-five 60-watt dimmable flat panels. The warehouse was retrofitted with a combination of twenty-four 200-watt linear high bay lights, twenty-eight 8 foot 40-watt T8 direct wire LED tubes, and thirty 4 foot 18-watt T8 direct wire LED tubes. The 4 foot tubes were installed in new six-tube LED ready troffers. Outside the building, Wilbanks Electric installed six 135-watt LED wall packs equipped with photocells.
A.J. Wilbanks, President of Wilbanks Electric stated, “Cortelco LED Lighting is our go-to supplier for all of our LED projects. We can always count on timely delivery of the highest quality LED lights. All of Cortelco’s staff are very knowledgeable concerning their products and they can assist us in running lighting simulations in order to maximize the even distribution of light at the lowest possible cost.”
David Bolton stated, “We are happy with the end result of this project. Both our employees and visitors comment on how much cleaner and brighter our facility looks. Our technicians no longer struggle to read serial numbers on our equipment. Overall this makes for a more enjoyable work space. As a result we are now considering making lighting upgrades in other places in our business.”
Based upon the saving from reduced energy costs it is estimated that his project will have a pay back in under two and one-half years.
